Page Pattern Description: Sixteen 2.125 x 2.125 inch border spots surround a central focal point (4 x 6 photo spot) that is layered on top of a 6.625 x 6.625 square. A few strips are added to one side for journaling.

Because I used the pattern to create a double page spread, I altered my pattern a little - adding two photos to the center sections. (I still had plenty of room for a title and journaling.) I also used one photo to fill in "two spots" as that worked best for the photos I selected.

This Pinwheel Style page pattern is one of my favorites because it creates multiple horizontal and vertical spots. You can find several variations of the "pinwheel" through out my scrapbook albums. I'll show them on future posts.
Page Pattern Description: a 4.375 in square is the center of attention on this pinwheel style page. Four 5.5x3.25 inch rectangles (two horizontal and two vertical) plus four 3.25 x 2.125 inch rectangles (also two horizontal and two vertical) surround the center.

Page Pattern Description: Inspired by stacked bricks, a row of 2.125 x 1 inch "strips" creates a border across the top of the page. (A great opportunity to show off a row of flowers as shown below.) Below the striped border a 11.125"w x 1"h border strip is a perfect place for a page title. The lower section of the page is made up of rectangular blocks. In the center two 5.5w x 3.25h blocks show off two focal photos. The next row is made up of three 2.125 inch high blocks: one - 2.125w, one 5.5w, and one 3.25w. The bottom border is 2.125 h x 11.125w.

Page Pattern Description: By changing the center "spot" from a 4.375 square to a 2.125 inch square this variation on the basic pinwheel design allows space for four larger photos: two landscape (4.375 x 5.5) & two portrait (4.375 x 6.625) shots.I call this a "variation of a chunky pinwheel" because to be a "true pinwheel" the pattern should be the same in all four sections.

Below the border a centered focal spot can be used for journaling or for that one special shot. Pattern calls for mosaic cut photos which wrap around two smaller (2.125 x 3.25in) photo spots and a larger (4.375 x 3.25in) photo or journaling spot located just below the central focal spot.

Page Pattern Description: 5 horizontal strips are poised for playing with patterns on this single focal point page. Each strip is 11.125 inches in width. Two of the strips are 1 inch in height, two are 2.125 inches, and the largest (center) strip is 4.375 in.
Note: I used a mirror image of the pattern above to compliment the direction of my focal photo.
This is not my "typical" style. It is rare that I have plenty of space for anything other than photos; but, I had a couple of challenges and I needed to do something a little different. The challenges were:
- I had only two photos to work with.
- They were digital files sent to me via e-mail and could not be blown up to a larger print size without serious quality issues.
My solution was to create a page that used multiple patterned papers (from the Basic Grey Phoebe collection.) Using various heights of border strips allowed me to create a "horizontal pattern field." I used an over-sized mat to give my focal photo a little extra presence on the page. (I didn't want it to get "lost" in all the color and variety.)
Because I used a busy pattern on the largest border strip I wasn't able to journal directly onto the paper (as I originally planned when creating the pattern). I used a sheet of white card stock - which seemed a little to plain on it's own; so, I added an 1/8th inch mat in brown to match the mat on the focal photo.

Pattern Block sizes are (clockwise from upper left corner) as follows: 2.125h x 7.75w, 2.125 h x 3.25w, 5.5h x 1w and 5.5h x 2.125w, 7.75w x 3.25h, 3.25w x 3.25h, 3.25w x 5.5h, and the center block is 4.375w x 5.5h.
A circle (aprox 2.125 inch) layered over blocks in the upper right corner, makes a great journal spot.

"M&M World - Times Square" by Tami Potter
When I thought about creating this page I knew I wanted to use close up shots of the M&M candy (which I had not taken in NY). Thankfully M&M's are not difficult to find. Kevin offered to pick up a bag at the store on the way home. I placed the candy in a pie pan and snapped several shots before it began to "mysteriously" disappear.
I let the photos act as my title and journaling (only adding names, location, and date to the side of the upper right mat.)
